The wallet, the CV, and me
A simple but effective method to design any kind of creative career.
Paddy Considine is an award-winning actor with an enviable list of credits: Peaky Blinders, House of the Dragon, The Bourne Legacy, Dead Man’s Shoes. But just like millions of others, he’s in the gig economy. How do you design a creative career like this?
I don’t suppose too many actors use Linkedin, but they face the same challenges as many people here: chasing jobs; creating projects; carving a niche; aiming to make it all fit together.
Paddy has a very simple but effective method of designing his career. He categorizes projects into three buckets:
- One for the CV
- One for the Wallet
- One for Me
The dream? Hitting the trifecta - a single project that ticks all three boxes.
With a blend of wisdom and luck, you might nail two at once.
But mostly, you'll get one. And that's okay... as long as you know which one it is.
Which category does your next project fall into?
And have you ever hit the jackpot?
